Description
The Meta Marketing API lets code create and edit campaigns, ad sets and ads on Facebook and Instagram, manage custom audiences and pull Ads Insights reports.
In a marketing workflow or agent it covers spend and creative reporting, budget changes and audience syncing. It sits on the Graph API, so calls use the same OAuth and token model.
Use it if you run Meta ads at volume or build tools for ad accounts. Production use for other people’s accounts needs Full access and app review, so it is not a quick start for a client tool.

Editor’s note What our review found
Editorial research, reviewed 23 Oct 2026. We read Meta's authorization and rate limit pages. We did not run live calls. This listing is not an endorsement.
Cost: Meta's docs list no API fee. Ad spend is billed by Meta. Access is the real cost. Limited access is the default and is heavily rate limited, meant for development only. Full access needs App Review, and business verification may be required for sensitive data.
Credentials and data: you use OAuth access tokens with the ads_read or ads_management permissions. Store tokens and the app secret in a secret manager or environment variables, never in code or a plain-text file. These tokens can change campaigns and spend money. Ad performance data and audience data move between Meta and your system. Custom audience uploads involve personal data, so check consent and GDPR duties.
Good to know: to keep Full access your app must make at least 500 Marketing API calls in 15 days with an error rate below 15% over the last 500 calls. Managing other people's ad accounts needs advanced access to ads_read or ads_management. Meta renamed Standard and Advanced access to Limited and Full for this API. Limits include 10 spend cap changes per day and 4 ad set budget changes per hour. The docs examples use version v25.0 (Meta's versions page lists v25.0 as the latest Marketing API version, with Graph API v26.0 released 29 July 2026); check that page for the current one.
