Description
The LinkedIn Marketing API covers advertising (campaigns, creatives, reporting), lead sync, conversions, matched audiences and company page management. Calls are versioned and sent to api.linkedin.com/rest.
It fits B2B reporting, lead routing from lead gen forms into a CRM, and agents that summarize campaign analytics. Users sign in with three-legged OAuth and grant permission scopes.
Use it if you run LinkedIn ads or build tools for ad accounts. You must apply for access, and every call needs a version header, so budget time for approval and for upgrades.

Editor’s note What our review found
Editorial research, reviewed 23 Oct 2026. We read LinkedIn's Marketing API overview, access, and versioning pages on Microsoft Learn. We did not run live calls. This listing is not an endorsement.
Cost: LinkedIn's docs list no API fee. Ad spend is billed by LinkedIn. You must apply for access. All Advertising API apps start on the Development tier: unlimited reads, edits on up to 5 ad accounts, and 1 test ad account created through the API. The Standard tier (unlimited edits and account creation) is requested through a support ticket, and LinkedIn may decline it. Audience Insights and Media Planning need extra approval with no fixed timeline. Company Intelligence is not taking new applications.
Credentials and data: all permissions use three-legged OAuth, so a LinkedIn member must consent and hold the right ad account role. Store client secrets and tokens in a secret manager or environment variables, never in code or a plain-text file. Tokens can change campaigns and spend money. Lead data and matched audience uploads contain personal data, so check consent and GDPR duties.
Good to know: every call must send a Linkedin-Version header (YYYYMM). There is no default version. New versions come out monthly and each is supported for at least one year. Marketing version 202511 is sunset on 16 Nov 2026. The Community Management Development tier allows 500 calls per app per 24 hours and must be finished within 12 months.
