Description
The Amazon Ads API lets approved developers manage and report on Amazon advertising: sponsored ads, streaming TV, Display, Video and Audio, Amazon Marketing Cloud and Amazon Marketing Stream.
Common uses named by Amazon are custom reporting dashboards, automated bid and keyword optimization, and budget optimization. That makes it a fit for agents that adjust bids or summarize ad performance.
It is aimed at partners who build ad software, and at agencies and direct advertisers with in-house engineers and a large volume of campaigns. Small advertisers who only use a tool that already uses the API do not need their own access.
Key endpoints
GET /v2/profiles: advertising profiles, one per marketplace
Example request
curl "https://advertising-api.amazon.com/v2/profiles" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_ACCESS_TOKEN" \
-H "Amazon-Advertising-API-ClientId: YOUR_CLIENT_ID"

Editor’s note What our review found
Editorial research, reviewed 23 Oct 2026. We read Amazon Ads' API overview page and the Getting Started guides. We did not run live calls. This listing is not an endorsement.
Cost: Amazon states there are no additional fees for using the API. Normal account fees and campaign costs still apply. Test accounts are available, and ads in them do not run on Amazon, so no fees apply. Access needs an application and approval: partners apply through the Partner Network, and direct advertisers use the Request API access form.
Credentials and data: you need three things: the client ID of an approved Login with Amazon application, an access token, and a profile ID for the advertising account and marketplace. Store credentials in a secret manager or environment variables, never in code or a plain-text file. Tokens can change campaigns and spend money. Campaign, sales and audience data moves between Amazon and your system.
Good to know: approval is required and the path depends on your organization type. Amazon's release notes mention onboarding support moving from Jira to Zendesk, so check the current support channel. Hosts are regional (the North America host is advertising-api.amazon.com). Amazon also describes a newer Ads API v1 and recommends it to new users.
