Description
The Instagram Platform from Meta lets apps connect to Instagram professional accounts (Business or Creator). It covers publishing, comment moderation, mentions, messaging and insights, depending on the login method.
In a marketing workflow it suits scheduling posts, reading account insights, replying to comments and building DM automation for accounts you manage or serve as a tool provider.
It does not give access to personal accounts or open public data. Apps that serve other businesses must pass Meta’s app review for Advanced Access.
Key endpoints

Editor’s note What our review found
Editorial research, reviewed 23 Oct 2026. We read Meta's Instagram Platform overview, app review and get-started pages. We did not run live calls. This listing is not an endorsement.
Cost: Meta's pages list no pricing or fees for the API. You need a Meta developer account and an app. Only professional (Business or Creator) accounts are supported.
Credentials and data: calls use an Instagram user access token. Tokens from Business Login are valid for 1 hour, and tokens generated in the App Dashboard last 60 days. Store tokens in a secret manager or environment variable, never in code or plain-text files. Account content, messages and follower insights pass through your app, so treat them as personal data and follow platform terms.
Good to know: an app used only for a business you own or manage can use Standard Access without app review. A Tech Provider serving multiple businesses needs App Review for Advanced Access. An app can use Facebook Login or Instagram Login, but not both. Rate limits are not stated on the pages we read. The get-started page shows calls on graph.instagram.com version v26.0.
