Description
The Search Console API gives programmatic access to the same search performance data you see in the Search Console web report. You can group by query, page, country, device, date or hour, filter the rows, and page through up to 25,000 rows per request.
It suits reporting automations, content decay checks, and agents that decide what to refresh based on real impressions and clicks. It also covers URL inspection and sitemap management.
It only returns data for sites you have verified in Search Console. It is not a competitor research tool and it does not show other sites’ rankings. Setup needs a Google Cloud project and OAuth consent.
Key endpoints
POST /sites/{siteUrl}/searchAnalytics/query: clicks, impressions, CTR, position by dimension

Editor’s note What our review found
Editorial research, reviewed 23 Oct 2026. We read Google's quota and API reference pages. We did not run live calls. This listing is not an endorsement.
Cost: Google's pages list quota limits and no charge for the API. Check Google's terms for the current position. You need a Google Cloud project and a verified Search Console property.
Credentials and data: OAuth 2.0 access. Use the read-only scope where you can. Store client secrets and refresh tokens in an environment variable or secret manager, never in code or a plain-text file. The API returns your own site's search data, and your OAuth consent grants the app access to your Search Console account.
Good to know: quotas are per site, per user and per project, and there is also a "load" quota that grows with heavy queries (page or query grouping, long date ranges). The API does not guarantee every row is returned, only the top ones.
